a super silk from silkworms

here is the super silk, obtained by transfer into silkworm proteins of spiders

The silkworms were modified to produce a sturdy silk enriched with typical fiber of the web, and consequently much more elastic than conventional silk. Among the first applications possible, those in the medical field. The result has been obtained in the United States, at the University of Wyoming, and is published in the journal of the Academy of Sciences of the United States, PNAS.
